About

Madhulika Lal is a non-binary, queer, South Asian multimedia installation and video artist based in Philadelphia. Madhulika studied at Hampshire College and Temple University, earning their BA in Film and Media Arts. They work in film/video, ceramic, textiles and sculpture. Their art contextualizes their gender, sexuality and Americanness in relation to their South Asian roots. Madhulika’s work uses projected image and physical form to reconcile memory and cultural history with a present reality. Madhulika’s installations are a way of bringing together seemingly clashing aspects of one's identity and creating a whole.
